What Is a Quartz Rod?

A quartz rod is a solid cylinder of fused quartz glass used for structural supports, stirrers, optical light pipes, fiber-optic feed rods and precision machined components. Solid fused quartz combines high temperature capability with dimensional stability and — in ground or polished form — good optical transmission along the rod axis.
